GALGORM Castle Golf Club is ready to roll out the red carpet for Northern Ireland's richest oneday event of the year.
'The Specsavers Opticians' Pro-Am will be staged on Wednesday, September 1, on the course near Ballymena with a prize fund of pounds 10,000 up for grabs.
Professionals from all over Ireland are taking part, including David Higgins and Brendan Mc-Govern, in what will be the first Pro-Am to take place at Galgorm, an 18-hole, par 72-championship course, set in 220 acres of beautiful mature parkland, overlooking the Castle which was built in 1618 by Sir Faithful Fortescue.
And the News Letter will be joining a hoard of other media teams in a bid to take the 'Best Media Team 2004'.
Ulster Television triumphed last year and received a signed Nick Faldo print, with each player also receiving special engraved Tyrone Crystal bowls.
A spokesman for the event said: 'This is a tremendous event and we are delighted to have Specsavers Opticians on board with us. It promises to be a great day for both the professionals and the scribes.'
Specsavers Opticians is a growing company with 35 stores across Ireland. New stores have just opened in Lisburn and Carlow.
